Skip Gage Scholarship Fund

ARTHUR D. “Skip” GAGE, Jr. of Livonia, a highly decorated retired Detroit Police Officer, died suddenly Thursday, August 24, 2006.  Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Skip was very proud to have served in the United States Army.  He also served as a motorcycle officer in the Detroit Police Department from January 1966 through June 1993.  He was an Escort for several Presidential motorcades and an Honor Guard for the Detroit Police Department.  After retirement he worked for Motor City Harley-Davidson where he sold motorcycles for 12 years.  Skip was a member of the Motor City Harley-Davidson H.O.G. chapter and was the founding father and founding president of the Warthogs Motorcycle Club.

This fund provides partial tuition reimbursement to awarded applicants in our local area who meet the criteria set forth by the club. Generally, the applicant must be in a law enforcement, fire suppression, or E.M.T. academy and must not be receiving any other financial reimbursement.

Over $9,000 has now been awarded through this Scholarship Fund since it was created in August of 2013. We would like to thank everyone that has attended our Annual Skip Gage Ride and Benefit  for making this scholarship possible. Also, a big thank you to UPS who has made very generous donations to this fund over the years.

The Salem Chapter was pleased to award a Skip Gage Scholarship check to James this past Wednesday. James is currently attending the Wayne County Regional Police Academy. Our inside sources at the academy tell us James is doing very well so far. The Salem Chapter felt James was very deserving of this check issued in Skip's honor.
